  • Arriving in October and staying until April, the UK’s overwintering population of Pink-Footed Geese come from Spitsbergen, Iceland and Greenland where they breed. The birds favour large estuaries, strongholds including eastern Scotland, the Wash, the Ribble and the Solway.
  • Pink-footed Geese are a dusky pink-grey colour, with a dark head and neck, pink bill and legs and of course, pink feet. The birds also have a white under-tail and pale-barred dark backs.
  • Pink-footed Geese do not breed until they are 3 years old. Their typical lifespan is 8 years; however the oldest recorded Pink-foot was 38 years, 7 months and 7 days old.
